What are CSS?
Cansei de Ser Sexy – Tired of being sexy. Hell yeah. They throw their lyrics right smash into your face and let you enjoy them without the frills. On Sunday night, at the Astoria in London, I was hit with my first live fix of CSS. And my veins are still throbbing. I know enough to sing along to “Alala” and “Meeting Paris Hilton”, but apart from that the sounds were new, and extremely enjoyable. The crowd moved together, surging towards the front of the stage, and everyone jumped. Always a good sign at any gig is when everybody jumps, because you can’t help but jump too, and that gets the sweat rolling and suddenly, without wanting to be, you’re sexy anyway.

In a nutshell, they are too many good songs to name, a startling visual catch in the throat, and a lot of just good music with a tint of lesbian chic and fabulous terrible clothes.

When are CSS?
Right now. They started, back in Sao Paulo, in 2003, and thanks to some great You Tube videos and a lot of spice, they are now happening all over the world, touring and pumping their audiences with adrenaline and clever words.

Where are CSS?
Everywhere. They are currently coming to the end of their tour, but you can find them online at their MySpace and they are signed to Slag Records, so get online and in tune.

Anything other than CSS?
Sure. Tilly and the Wall supported, and they were also brilliant – really got you toe-tapping, to say the least! A combination of pretty voices and great rhythms, and the lovely tap dancing element that echoes the good old days when music was about singing along and enjoying yourself, I would recommend them to anyone who can get up and still shake it.
